I have something to say… this is me.
Dr. Tiffany Smith-Simmons has dedicated her professional career to leaning in, inspiring and motivating others. She is driven by the insatiable need to reach back and lift others up. She is a dynamic, innovative and creative community servant who currently services her community as a Human Resource Director for the Sacramento City Unified School District. Dr. Smith-Simmons has extensive experience and knowledge in supporting teachers and principals in implementing effective instructional practices as well as using data to drive the instructional program. She is an adjunct professor that teaches both undergraduates and graduate students aspiring to become teachers. She considers it an honor and a privilege to recruit, train and support teachers who play a role in creating educational experiences that contribute to child’s trajectory of success. Tiffany is driven by her conviction that all children can and will learn despite external factors, that all children should be given an opportunity to succeed and that failure is not an option. She believes that every adult can make a difference and understands that giving back is essential.
She is most proud of the leadership roles she has played in a variety of sustainable projects both for her district and the Sacramento community. She has supported and led the initial efforts of introducing Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Pedagogy in the Sacramento City Unified School District. She also played a critical role in the district’s roll out of Equity Access and Achievement Professional Learning. She designed the district’s recruitment program that targeted and attracted teachers from Historically Black Colleges and Universities to the Sacramento area to launch their teaching careers. She has developed and maintained many community partnerships that enhanced the learning in school communities where she served as Principal.
Dr. Simmons has served on the Board of Directors for both the YWCA, Sacramento and the Elk Grove Police Activities League. She is a member of the Professional Council for California Association of School Business Officials and serves as the Human Resources Chair. Her unwavering commitment to educating young and serving her community has earned her regional, state and national awards.
Tiffany holds a bachelor’s degree from Howard University, master’s degree from California State University, Sacramento and a Doctorate from the University of the Pacific.
